I am an optimist, so therefore I will be calling it YESvember instead of NOvember.
It truly was ROCKtober for me and ended with a bang (I was the Energizer Bunny for Halloween people, nothing kinky here...)
But Halloween night also brought forth an opportunity for change for me, which I definitely needed.
I am very excited to announce that I am moving! Granted, it is only to the "city" instead of the 'burbs...but I needed a social change big time. I will be closer to the local music scene, closer to some more cultural opportunities and will also be in a FIERCE new place with the most amazing windows I have ever seen in an apartment. I am stoked. Granted, I hate preparing to move more than most anything, I currently have 59 days to do it and if I do a little at a time, then I should be golden.
And trust me, I am going to have a little throwdown to break in the new digs a bit. Some kind of theme party in Jan./Feb....so yeah. If you want in on that, lemme know ;-) I am going to be living next door to a "luxury hotel", so.....my out of state friends can certainly be in on this...
Also, my little business is taking a different direction and instead of concentrating specifically on music and bands, I am expanding to include the ARTS in general. Right now, I am doing social media/publicity/marketing for New River Stage, and more specifically their spring production of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
I have a theatre background, folks.
This is a natural progression for me.
Plus, I really believe there is value in social media as a marketing tool (duh...) and don't see any reason for something as classic a theatre not to get involved. My "market research", so to speak, has been the Broadway production of Rock of Ages. This thing has been on Facebook, Twitter, You Tube....you name it, from its off-Broadway inception. And it has worked.
Now the New River Valley is no NYC, but I don't see why the same concept wouldn't work here, or anywhere else for that matter.
So in addition to tracking down new music, I will be doing the same for art of all kinds.
Limits are limiting, don't you agree?
XO,
Ash
